How to get started with NOVA Smart Search (viewing and logging)

Log in to arrive to your video editing dashboard. Is this your first time logging in? Then your account already contains an example video which you can test the platform with. To work on your own videos you will need to upload them.

Click on the Add Videos button on the top right corner to upload a new video.

You can drag and drop your videos, or click in the window to select from your computer.

Once uploaded, click the cog to adjust your settings. You can:

Change the name of your video (important note on this below, please read)
Add a description
Select your content's language or leave it on autodetect
Select if you want to analyse automatically now, or later
Select any Collection folders to analyse on (see our article on _Collections _ for more info on this one)
Set which categories do you want to analyse (see our article on _Categories _for more info)

Once all set, click the confirm button and wait for your content to be analysed.

|| If you rename your video you will have to rename your original file on your computer to the same name. Otherwise they will not match later when you download your footage from NOVA

Getting Started with Nova A.I. (Video Editor)

This guide will take you through how to upload to Nova A.I. and editing from start to finish. __

First you will need to upload your video content to the platform.

You do that by clicking "Create Project".

A pop-up window appears where you can drag and drop files from your computer or upload by copy/pasting a YouTube URL or TikTok Url.

Wait for the upload to finish (this may take a few minutes depending on the length of your video.

Once your video is uploaded, you can start editing. You navigate to the different editing tools via the menu on your left.

You can:

Add more videos, images or audio to your editing timeline in "Media"
Automatically add Subtitles and Translate your video in "Subtitles". Here you also edit the style of your subtitles
Add text elements in "Text"
Add transitions between the different videos on your timeline in "Transitions" New features are continuously added and updated.

When you're finished editing, click export!

Labels

What are labels?

**Labels **are the different **categories **you can search for inside your video. You find them to the **left **of your editing dashboard.

If you want to find all scenes with Renée Zellweger in Bridget Jones' Baby just search for her in the category Celebrities.

| Tip! Don't see the people you are looking for? Upload an image of them to your _Collections _ and reanalyse the video for _Collections _ category only to teach NOVA to recognise the person.

Sometimes, what you search for will be a Parent. This means it's a label with subcategories - for example Bag. Within the label **Bag **you have briefcase, handbag and so forth. Another example of a Parent is Nature (lake, forest, mountain etc.) or Animal (elephant, dog, mouse etc.).

| Tip! To get fewer, but more accurate results, adjust the confidence level to a higher percentage. To get more results, which might be less accurate, set the confidence level at a lower percentage.

Why did analysis not work?

In order to save users costs and credit-usage, the default analysis settings only include few of the most popular categories.

To change this, here's what you have to do when uploading.

Fistly, make sure you're uploading on the Smart Search part of the platform, and not the Editing part. You an switch between the two parts of the platform by clicking here:

After having chosen the video you want to upload for analysis, click the small settings wheel.

Analysis Settings

As you can see, categories can be toggled on and off. Choose whichever categories you want analysed.

Export to Premiere Pro

Pick the labels you want to export. They are now in your "Selected" tab. If you are happy with your chosen labels, click the "Add to export" button.

The labels are now added to your export and you can see them at the bottom of the page. Click on the little arrow on the right to expand the tab, to check your selection. Remove any of the labels you don't want anyway by clicking the x.

Once you are fully happy with your selection, click the button "Export to Premiere Pro. This will take you to a settings page for your EDL file.

Set your project framerate to match with your Premiere Pro's project.

Give any name to your timeline. This will be the name of your timeline when you import your EDL file into your Premiere Pro.

You can choose to merge moments into one clip if they are found within a set time period.

Choose whether to have an EDL for every label or every video.
